4th Annual Parducci Crush Rush 5K Benefit Raised Over $6,500

119 runners, joggers, and walkers participated in the 4th annual Crush Rush 5K Benefit Run hosted by Parducci Wine Cellars. The event raised over $6,500 for Ukiah Unified School Gardens and Nutrition Programs.

"Many runners commented that it was one of the most beautiful courses they had run because they were running through the vineyards, around the water reclamation pond and among trees as opposed to running on concrete," said D'Selkie Ukiah Unified School Garden Program Coordinator.

The run took place midway through the harvest of Parducci Wine Cellars' estate vines. Jess Arnsteen, Parducci Farm and Garden Director, said, "We're very thankful for the generous contributions from our sponsors; without them this event wouldn't be possible. It's terrific to see how supportive our local businesses are of our children and community." The sponsors of this year's Crush Rush were Acme Rigging, Friedman's Home Improvement, Realty World - Selzer Realty, The Golden Pig, Savings Bank of Mendocino, Ukiah Natural Foods Co-Op, Schat's Bakery, and Thanksgiving Coffee.

The School Garden Program serves 8 schools from preschool to 8th grade in Ukiah, reaching 4,200 students. Rochelle Enzler, Director of Events, said, "We are so happy to support the Ukiah Unified School Garden Program and their mission to educate our youth on healthy diet, nutrition, and gardening."

"Parducci Wine Cellars is a wonderful community partner involved in our school garden program," said D'Selkie. "We are so fortunate to live in a place where people care enough to support children, school gardens, and local food."

Goldie James Recommends Visiting Mendocino County's Historic Parducci Winery

Blogger Goldie James highly recommends Parducci Winery as a tourist destination in a recent post that offers personalized anecdotes of Vernon and Edith Parducci from when James' own family were neighbors to the winemakers, as well as several photos of the winery's buildings and organic garden.

The article is a touchingly personal postcard to Parducci's past and present, filled with historical facts, details on visitor amenities, and stunning photos of the winery's grounds and interiors.

James concludes: "My Quick Take: If you love History and want to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax in a down to earth town then the Parducci Winery is for you."

"Soil To City": The Colorado Springs School Visits Parducci Wine Cellars

Parducci rep and Colorado Springs School alum Jess Arnsteen recently hosted a field day for CSS students exploring Parducci Wine Cellars.

Joohyung K., Junior, Class of 2016 wrote a touchingly vivid account of the day's excursion, breaking down the science of biomimicry into understandable chunks, and conveying many sense memories of the winery's organic garden and wetlands waterfalls.

Thanks to all involved in providing a stellar day "working the land" for CSS's students!!!

Gardening Guru Jess Arnsteen Talks Growing Organic At Parducci

Our Garden Is Growing

Our gardening guru, Jess Arnsteen, is in charge of helping us create and maintain a huge organic garden on the Parducci property.

Since then, we've been hard at work and the harvest is really starting to pay off. Everything from corn to melons to tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries, and lots more. As you gardeners out there know, there is nothing like enjoying fresh produce from your own backyard. Every few days you'll see smiling folks walk away from Parducci with bags of fruits and veggies, just plucked from the earth. It's been a fantastic ride this far, and we can't wait for the fruit and nut trees to mature. Come out and see how we're growing our garden. If you see Jess out there (that's where you'll usually find him) give him a wave!
